In order to learn a language, speakers need to generalize over the particular utterances they hear. The resulting patterns or constructions relate abstract forms and functions.
In order to learn a language, speakers need to generalize over the particular utterances they hear. The resulting patterns or constructions relate abstract forms and functions. In this project, we manipulate participants' moods before they take part in a novel construction learning experiment using fMRI and ERPs. We aim to investigate whether mood affects linguistic generalization, and what the neural underpinnings of the learning processes are.
