Researchers who investigate nonhuman primates differ in their expert knowledge, personality traits, relationships with the animals and their emotional experiences regarding apes or monkeys. This explorative study investigates which role these factors play in the process of research. To enquire this, I wil lconduct interviews with researchers from different disciplines and analyse primatologicalpublications, using, amongst others, methods of literary studies.
Furthermore, I investigate comparatively how pictures or videos of nonhuman primates are perceived by scientists, keepers and laypersons.
